Our community-based outgrower businesses provide leadership in empowering local communities for development. However, they also need access to resources that help them create sustainable social enterprises that will foster community empowermnt and development. Currently the mutual dependency between businesses and local communities is always on a knife's edge as both businesses and clients still have a lot to learn.
The limited opportunities, coupled with the traditional patriachical structure in rural communities suggest that women and youth, who are in the majority of the population may remain margnalized if local businesses are not supported to create targeted uportunities and viable entry points for women and youth.
Most of our zonal networks were initiated in 2018 and are still going through growing pains experienced by new groups amd organizations, which includes some peirod of instability, slow growth and stagnation. Networks continue to need guidance to arrive at the "performing" stage.
